Grayson v. Combs et al

In late 2006, Latroya Grayson, a 23-year-old from Oklahoma, accompanied her sibling, who won a KJAMZ 105.3FM radio contest sponsored by Sean Combs, Bad Boy Entertainment, Atlantic Records, and Delta Airlines, offering an all-expenses-paid trip to a 'Diddy White Party' in New York City. The event, rescheduled to October 16, 2006, and rethemed as a 'Black Party,' saw Plaintiff travel via Delta, stay at the Roger Smith Hotel, and attend the party after a van ride arranged by Atlantic’s Mike Savas. At the party, separated from her sibling, she consumed two premade drinks, felt sick, and awoke at Saint Vincent’s Medical Center with no memory of how she got there, her shirt ripped, underwear missing, shoes gone, and money stolen except for a $20 bill. Returning to her hotel, she received a threatening call from an anonymous woman warning against pursuing the assault due to Combs’ celebrity status, leaving her with vaginal pain, depression, and lasting trauma.

Plaintiff seeks: statutory, common law, and punitive damages; pre- and post-judgment interest; declaratory judgment that Defendants violated the NYC Victims of Gender-Motivated Violence Protection Act; compensatory damages for mental, emotional, physical injury, pain, suffering, lost wages, and reputation damage; injunctive and equitable relief; attorneys’ fees, costs, and expenses; an incentive or service award; and any other relief deemed just and proper.
