Rechnitzer v. Combs

On February 25, 2007, at Teddy's nightclub in the Roosevelt Hotel, located at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard, Los Angeles, California, between 2:00 and 2:30 AM, Plaintiff Gerard Rechnitzer was involved in an incident. After using the restroom, Rechnitzer proceeded to the parking lot to meet his girlfriend and friends. He observed his girlfriend speaking with Defendant Sean John Combs, who was surrounded by private security guards. Rechnitzer was initially prevented from approaching by a security guard but was allowed to join after his girlfriend identified him as her boyfriend. During the conversation, without provocation, Combs turned to Rechnitzer and yelled threateningly, 'What the fuck you looking at dude?' and 'I'll smack flames out your ass,' causing Rechnitzer to fear for his and his girlfriend's safety. Combs then intentionally assaulted and battered Rechnitzer, striking him and causing him to fly backward several feet and hit a vehicle. Combs also allegedly pushed Rechnitzer's girlfriend and attempted to spit on another female in their group. As Combs left the scene in a vehicle, he leaned out the window, staring at Rechnitzer in a threatening manner. Rechnitzer reported the incident to the police afterward.

Economic and special damages for past, present, and future hospital and medical expenses, loss of earnings, and other losses; non-economic and general damages for past, present, and future pain and suffering; punitive and exemplary damages against Defendant Combs and Does 1 through 50; costs of suit; and other relief deemed proper by the court.

The above entitled matter has settled.
